Chester's back injur

As we all know, Linkin Park has been forced to cancel their upcoming Music For Relief Concerts in Mainland China, Macau and Taipei because of Chester Bennington back injury.

But his back is getting better:

"Chester's back is recovering well. He is still scheduled for regular visits to the doctor, but he's able to go about most of his daily routine. He had a scare the other day when he was recording a vocal; in the middle of a take, his back seized up. he thought he might need to go back to the hospital, but after some rest and doctor's advice, it relaxed again. Things are looking good. Thanks for your support!"  wrote Mike Shinoda.

Linkin Park Working on New Album

“I didn’t stop writing since the last record,” Shinoda recently told Rolling Stone. “They’ve seen the stuff on my hard drives. I’ve got a lot of material, and I know the other guys have a good amount of stuff too. It’s going to be fun.”

Check it out on Linkin Park's MySpace page and be sure to embed it on your site! "Road To Revolution: Live At Milton Keynes" will be released on November 25.

Linkin Park Hit the Studio in L.A.: “We Have a Ton of Material”

Mike Shinoda will always make time for important business. Linkin Park’s rapper-songwriter-producer has already been sketching out new songs with the band, and last week they began recording the follow-up to the multiplatinum Minutes to Midnight in Los Angeles. “I didn’t stop writing since the last record,” says Shinoda. “They’ve seen the stuff on my hard drives. I’ve got a lot of material, and I know the other guys have a good amount of stuff too. It’s going to be fun.”

The next studio album will likely appear in 2009. But on November 25th, Linkin Park will release Road To Revolution, a live CD/DVD set recorded this year at the Milton Keynes National Bowl outside London. Shinoda confirms he recently produced a track for Cypress Hill, but is more coy about another project he’s been linked to: a mysterious online music video called “Barack Your World,” which is credited to the band White Pegacorn.

Sitting in a West Hollywood hotel suite with a full beard and a plate of fresh ahi tuna, Shinoda awaits the arrival of drummer Rob Bourdon and talks about the video, which is performed by hair-metal hand-puppets who sing a wacky heartland-rock ballad of politics and sexual innuendo worthy of Spinal Tap (”Baby if you were my Iraq, I would never pull out, if you know what I mean” and “Don’t tell me no lies, you got a weapon of mass destruction between your thighs!”).

Can you explain “Barack Your World”?
Mike Shinoda: [Laughs out loud] I can neither confirm nor deny any relationship to that, although I think it’s hilarious. I’ll say this: I have a friend named Mark [Wakefield, onetime singer for pre-Linkin Park group Xero], and we’ve been friends since we were 12. He and I started my band together. We used to make joke songs on the weekends in high school and college. It’s just fun for us to do. Whether or not that [”Barack Your World”] rumor is true, that’s definitely what we used to do.

Can you predict anything else coming from White Pegacorn?
I heard a rumor that there’s some interview footage with that band. Hopefully those will show up online. I don’t imagine that project will be an album. But what would I know? That band is so mysterious.

Minutes to Midnight’s “Hands Held High” is a very pointed song about the war, and you included it on the new live album.
We had put that song in the set and took it out because the chorus has 10 voices singing on it, and live it just never sounded right. But during the Milton Keynes show, there was a fan in front of the crowd who had a sign that said “Play ‘Hands Held High.’ ” Halfway through, I thought, we can’t play the song because we aren’t prepared — but I can give him the first half. So I just threw the verse in a cappella. In fact, we added that verse to the set, so that kid’s sign essentially changed the set for the rest of the year. It was really cool. As for the meaning of the song: We have a policy that we don’t want to give away too much when it comes to the meaning of a song. We want to respect everybody’s impression of what the lyrics are about. I don’t think there’s a ton of mystery over what it’s about.

Rob Bourdon: I think a lot of the lyrics on Minutes to Midnight are really thought provoking, and when you listen to a song like “Hands Held High,” you can’t help but start thinking. It’s good to encourage people to think for themselves and look at what’s going on around them.

You’re in the early stages of a new studio album?
Shinoda: Very early stages. I’m excited about it. I don’t know what it’s going to sound like. At this point we’re doing a lot of demos in small groups. Everybody is throwing some ideas together. At this point, I’m producing. I don’t imagine I’ll be the only producer on this record. I think we’re going to hire somebody else on.

Will it likely be someone you’ve ever worked with before, like Rick Rubin?
Shinoda: We haven’t talked about it at length. Rick was really great. I think we will work with Rick again in the future at some point, but I don’t know if this is the record. At this point, it’s a pretty self-sufficient process. We’re taking care of all our needs at this point.

This will be a faster turnaround for you?
Shinoda: Yeah. The stuff we’ve been writing is a little more challenging, a little more experimental in the way we’ve been writing and the sounds we’ve been making. But once we start getting our hands on it, some of it could straighten out and be a little more familiar. Some of the stuff we’re doing now is a little crazy.

Bourdon: If we get it out in ‘09, we’ll be doing pretty good.

Shinoda: This one will not take as long as the last one — from beginning to end, that one was about 18 months.

There was far less rapping from you on the last record. What about this time?
Shinoda: We wrote 150 demos for that record. If you’d picked a different 12 songs, there would have been a ton of rapping. It just depends on what we want to release at the end of the process. And the songs that we did in the last batch for Minutes to Midnight that did not end up on the record could end up on a record in the future. The good news is we have a ton of material.

Halloween Memories

93X Rocks: LINKIN PARK usually spend their Halloween at a party at MIKE SHINODA's house. Unfortunately, this year the band are so busy working on a new record, Shinoda says he didn't have time to plan a party. But looking back on past years, his favorite memory was JOE HAHN and three friends dressing as North Korean dictator KIM JONG IL, U.S. President GEORGE W. BUSH, and a pair of nuclear missiles.

But Shinoda says Hahn didn't leave it at that -- quote, "As the night wore on, "we started finding like Kim [Jong Il] posters around the house. He was literally putting propaganda up in my house."

Linkin Park Thinking Conceptual For Next Album

Billboard:

Linkin Park is planning what singer Chester Bennington calls "a concept record" for its fourth album, which the group will start recording in early November and be ensconced in making by the time its new live album, "Road to Revolution," rolls out Nov. 25.

Bennington is mum on details -- "I'm not sure I'm allowed to say what the big plan is," he notes -- but tells Billboard.com that Linkin Park "never envisioned ourselves doing a concept record, but we see an opportunity to do something really cool so we jumped on it, and we'll see how it comes out. I think it's a challenge and we'll see if we can rise to the occasion."

The singer says Linkin Park has already started writing music for the follow-up to last year's "Minutes to Midnight," which has been a different process as well. "If we're writing a song with a specific purpose you're allowed to step out of the realms of commercialism a little bit," he explains. "You don't want to dilute that purpose with something that doesn't have anything to do with it, which is really interesting."

While Linkin Park is starting the new album, Bennington will be putting the finishing touches on his first solo album, which he's been recording with producer Howard Benson and hopes to have out next spring or summer. "I'll probably be finished in the next couple months," reports Bennington, who describes the set as "a lot more straightforward rock, with a little bit of an electronic element to it, lots of keys and snyths and stuff like that. And there are a few elements where I think you'll be able to see what my influence on (Linkin Park) is."

Bennington also hopes "to do as much touring as possible" to promote the solo album but adds that he's wary of "putting myself in a situation where I can't finish the Linkin Park record because I'm supposed to be on a tour. It's a really delicate kind of balancing act I'm gonna try to pull off here."

Linkin Park's "Road to Revolution," meanwhile, is an 18-track CD/DVD package recorded at a June concert in England. Jay-Z appears on two tracks ("Jigga What/Faint" and "Numb/Encore"); the set also includes Linkin Park's current single, "Leave Out All the Rest," which has been adapted for an episode of CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" that will air on Nov. 6.

Mike Talking Projekt Revolution

The Projekt Revolution Tour gets underway tomorrow night in Boston. How does the trek differ from the rest of the summer tours? Since Linkin Park are headlining we put the question to Mike Shinoda.

“You know, this is obviously not an Oz Fest, it’s not a Vans Warped Tour. Some of the bands on this tour have played those bills but I think that there’s definitely a certain niche that we feel this tour fulfills and a lot of our fans seem to agree.”

-skope

No "second" stage for PR

Projekt Revolution may have two stages, but organizers Linkin Park say there is no such thing as the “second stage” on the trek. Mike Shinoda says, “We made it a point. We don’t call it the second stage. We call it the Revolution Stage just out of respect for the other bands. They’re not second class citizens as far as we’re concerned. I’ve been on tours….where they wouldn’t let the second stage bands into the main stage area and I think that is horses***.” Chester Bennington says the tour Shinoda is referring to is Ozzfest, and though they were treated very well by The Osbournes, it was definitely a struggle. The vocalist says that during the trek, they had to find ways to fit in as they didn’t exactly match the typical Ozzfest audience. “That’s one thing we definitely didn’t want to have happen [with Projekt Revolution],” says Bennington. “We want diversity and we want people to come through the door with the idea that they’re going to see things that they probably wouldn’t see together in a normal situation….And we wanted to make sure that everyone from the opening act all the way through to the end of the day felt like they had their time and that they had the best opportunity they could and had everything they wanted to put on the best show they can put on.”

Chester's favorite festival is Summer Sonic

"The problem with U.S. festivals is that they have mostly American and British groups, so you're not getting a real glimpse of what's out there. But at Summer Sonic in Japan, they have a bunch of international acts, all playing at this outdoor stadium that's broken up into indoor arenas of different sizes."

Mike and Chester in Busta Rhymes video

Not only is multi-platinum two-time Grammy-winning rock band Linkin Park featured on
the first single from acclaimed hip-hop innovator Busta Rhymes' new album,
but the band 's co-lead vocalists Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda will
also appear in the song's performance video. "We Made It," directed by
Chris Robinson, will be shot in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 15.

The intriguing culture-mashing collaboration reflects the theme of "We
Made It." Says Rhymes of the song: "It ain't just about the 'hood, it ain't
just about the suburbs, it's about everybody. This is one of those songs
that can't be described better than touching the souls of the common
people."

"We Made It," produced by Cool and Dre, with additional production by
Mike Shinoda, and its video will be released in May, prior to the debut of
Rhymes' eighth studio album, Blessed (Flipmode/Aftermath/Interscope), on
June 17.

Projekt Revolution not done with rap

A lack of rap for a second straight year on the Projekt Revolution tour is circumstantial, according to Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda.

During a teleconference with reporters today (April 9), Shinoda said that in booking this year's tour, Linkin Park "didn't find the right rap groups to put on the show. There weren't many that we felt would mix well with everything. For this one, it's pretty much an all-rock bill ... but this is a really diverse bill as far as rock."

Shinoda said that rap is "not gone forever" from Projekt Revolution, and that "in the future we'll have more hip-hop artists back on the bill."

Besides headliner Linkin Park, this year's Projekt Revolution -- which kicks off a North American run July 16 in Boston after a one-off on June 29 in England -- features Chris Cornell, the Bravery, Ashes Divide and Armor For Sleep on the main stage and Atreyu, Hawthorne Heights, 10 Years and Street Drum Corps on the second, Revolution Stage.

Shinoda said there was interest in major hip-hop acts such as Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Gnarls Barkley but that "these groups were out on the road doing their own thing ... with other commitments going. I think if there had been a place for these guys to be on the tour, it would've worked out."

The British show, meanwhile, features Jay-Z and N*E*R*D.

New Fan Art

We have got our first fan art by Tamara. :)
Thank you Tamara.

New Single

Next Linkin Park single is going to be 'Leave out all the Rest"!!!!!!! :D

In the video — which features no performance footage — the band lives in a rundown, artificial habitat that's making its way across the galaxy. At first, the boys are seen passing the time performing mundane tasks, but then gravity is lost onboard the vessel, sending the guys floating about.

"We're explorers in space, just like when we go on tour," said Hahn. "We're leaving our home life behind, and I guess it kind of ties into 'Leave Out All the Rest,' in that we have to leave things behind in order to do something better."

In the end, Linkin Park rocks Arco crowd

One thing’s for sure: If you didn’t have your cell phone at Linkin Park’s concert at Arco Arena on Monday, you were probably sorely disappointed.

Before the band took the stage, attendees sent text-message confessions to a Verizon code in order to have notes such as “I’m supposed to be taking a midterm right now!” displayed on a giant screen at the concert. The crowd of thousands also kept their phones high in the air at the beginning of the rap rockers’ set to snap shots of band members as they rose out from under a paneled structure, which periodically moved the musicians around the stage throughout the show.

Singer Chester Bennington appeared last during this introduction, basking in the glowing spotlight with his arms and head raised to the ceiling in an exaggerated pose. Giddy screams from the crowd rumbled the venue’s walls. The gesture translated: Your “nu-metal” rock idol has arrived, ladies and gents. [MORE]

Hilton And Madden Go Public For Linkin Park....

Paris Hilton went public with her latest romance on Tuesday night when she was spotted at Linkin Park's Los Angeles concert with Good Charlotte star Benji Madden.

The couple was caught in an elevator at the Staples Center by a staff member of gig promoters Star 98.7 - and they allowed him to briefly interview them on his video camera.

They initially refused to be interviewed together but Hilton joined in the chat with Madden, after the cameraman asked her if Linkin Park are her favourite band.

She chuckled, "No, I love Good Charlotte".

Omaha review and pics

At about 9:26 p.m., the auditorium was filled back to back with people pushing for a front row view of the stage. For the third time that night, the lights went down, and the audience began screaming, knowing that their well awaited heroes were making it to the stage.
If the pyrotechnics had been incredible earlier, it was absolutely amazing at this point. Along with the blinking club lights were light screens that narrated each song and at times gave a clearer image of the band from Agoura Hills, Calif., as they rocked out.
Lead singer, Chester Bennington, made the crowd go wild throughout the night as he got off stage and headed into the throngs of awaiting fans.
The band performed recent hits like "Bleed it Out" and "Shadow of the Day" and after about an hour of straight playing, headed off stage to call it a night. Nevertheless, their fans were not quite satisfied, rioting for an encore.
Impressed by this tremendous admiration for their music, Linkin Park came back and performed old classics like "Papercut," "Faint" and a few other songs. Then, with a kiss goodbye, the band put down their instruments and said farewell.

Telecnference bits

Linkin Park's Chester Bennington interrupted a recent teleconference call with journalists to make an important announcement.

Good thing he didn't. Bennington's band seems to win every heat it runs....Read More.

Linkin Park plans quick "Midnight" follow-up

Cool article with bits from an interview with Chester where he mentions touring for Minutes to Midnight and the next Linkin Park cd. Read it here: Reuters... :)

"I never anticipate what we're gonna do," he explained. "I find that overplanning a creative project usually means you're gonna screw it up, so I really don't focus on what we're gonna do. When a song comes, I'll write it. When a song comes to (vocalist/keyboardist/guitarist) Mike (Shinoda), he'll put an idea down. We just kind of roll with it spontaneously."

Mike's post

i’ve had the flu for the last few days. it’s been nasty. i almost went to the emergency room, but my fever broke and now i feel better.
enough about me. i haven’t mentioned anything about STYLES OF BEYOND in a while, since they’ve been in the studio finishing their record. they were almost done a few months ago, but decided to go back and tweak a few things and add a couple songs. i think it was a really smart move…the album sounds amazing.
now that the record is pretty much done, and the guys are starting to put some shows together. here are three so far:
2/15 – Crash Mansion – Downtown, LA Doors at 8:30PM
3/22 – In The Venue for “Spring Fling” – Salt Lake City, UT Doors at 8PM http://www.24tix.com
4/25 – University of Buffalo – Buffalo, NY
for all you fort minor fans out there, go check them out. tickets won’t cost too much, and you’re guaranteed a good time, especially if you catch the guys at the bar afterward. go and tell them i said “hi.”

Chesters New Post

Hey what's up it's Chester, just thought I'd fill everyone in onwhat's going on in my world. I'm sitting in London and we've got 4shows left. The tour has been good so far and it's been fun to haveTyler out here with us. He is now saying things like "I'm rocking out"and "I want Starbucks" frickin' hilarious. London's pretty dope andwe've been staying here and traveling back and forth from show toshow. It's cool cause we've caught some shows like Wicked and LesMis'. I'm not sure what T and I will be doing for the rest of our timehere, but I'm sure we'll figure something out. We are starting toshoot our new video for Given Up and I think it's going to turn outreally good. The band has decided to go with a live video and I thinkit's perfect for the song. We always do really big expensive videosand it's nice to take a break from that. Anyway, it's like 3 A.M. andI'm tired so BYE. I'll be checking in every now and then so keep youreyes open..............C

Kerrang scans, Mike blog, and mp3's

Mike posted to his blog:
firstly, i just saw the new issue of kerrang here in the UK (with LP on the cover). i don’t often give praise to this type of thing…but for fans of the band looking for a little deeper insight into the story behind our beginnings, i think this article contains some exceptional stories and whatnot. go check it out.

*edit: although, i will say that a lot of the pictures are lame :) but then again, maybe that’s our fault, not the photographers’, ha

the other thing, which has nothing to do with the first thing, is this clip. i saw it and thought is was kinda funny, but i wasn’t going to put it up here…but then other people kept emailing me sending me the link, so i figured that some of you would think it’s as funny as they did.
